Visit to the "El Rey" ruins with APAFHDEM

The Olympus Tours Foundation had another unforgettable outing on November 26th, 2010, with intellectually challenged students who attend the Apafhdem training workshops.

With the support of our co-sponsor Expressos de Oro, we visited the El Rey ruins, a Mayan Archaeological Centre located in our beautiful Cancun’s hotel zone. It was clear to see how enthusiastic and surprised the members of the invited group were; on the one hand because this was their first time at the archaeological ruins and pyramids, and on the other hand because they didn’t expect to find so many iguanas in one place; these charming animals kept the youngsters alert, since they could be seen enjoying the sunshine on every step and in every corner. The group members were told about the historical importance of the archaeological site and were offered a delicious breakfast on the beach in front of the ruins.

Continuing with the recreational activities, they took part in various dynamics which gave everyone the chance to get some exercise and have even more fun. The winners in each activity were awarded a prize and by the end of the activities everyone had received a gift. The turquoise blue water of our Caribbean Sea and the white sand provided the perfect setting for a relaxing and refreshing day.

The laughter, singing and dancing on the way home was proof that our project’s objective had been achieved once more!
